DESCRIPTION:

Cesis is a charming city fusing together medieval history and contemporary culture. The unique feel and hospitality of this 800-year-old city attract tourists all year long – from the Baltic’s biggest ski resorts to the preserved medieval layout of the cobbled streets of Cesis Old Town. The proposal for the LOOP came from the analysis where the city is divided into three parts atmospherically and physically leaving all attraction points scattered around and sometimes without access for visitors. Cesis LOOP acts as a one connection element through all the city’s most interesting parts which in addition will include new different interventions. In the consequence, it creates a city as one organism. To make a feeling of the loop and bring a modern physical response, some of the design elements repeat on all its way, creating a subconscious dialogue with inhabitants.
